Ok so here's my feedback after 100+ hours. Huge potential, some questionable decisions

This game has huge potential. Ive been playing on and off for some months now. I get that balancing heroes and items and lanes and so on is difficult, especially in a moba game with 6 players per team. Unbalanced heroes and items will always occur, thats not a big problem in my opinion, as long as theyre not incredibly overpowered.

The biggest problem IMO is the lack of picking heroes. I mean yeah, we actually need pick and ban phases, but its still too few heroes for bans. But not being able to plan synergies, combos, counter-picks and so on is a big problem of the game. We cant actually play it the way we want to, because we dont know who we are going to play until we are already in the match. And that kinda sucks. Not being able to pick lanes is another thing. Ive gotten into so so many games planning to be support Ivy/Dynamo/Kelvin only to be put into a solo lane. Thats still manageable because we can swap lanes though. You decided to remove normals and have ranked only, with still no way to even plan your match at all. You cant even do anything about it even in a 6 premade team, because you still have no way of knowing who gets who, until the match starts. I think that killed most of the player base.

We need pick phases at least, as soon as possible. Right now the one trick ponies leave the game anyway if they dont get who they want, so thats no argument.

I dont see me playing this game again without some missing (right now) features.

Edit: De-emotionalized the text a bit lol

Seriously, bug reports are the only way to commit feedback?! Wow.
Maybe the devs don't want feedback. At least not yet. It's their game, not yours, and it's still in private alpha, so maybe if you're not a developer on the game, relax.

And THEN you decided to remove normals and have ranked only
It's all ranked, sure, but they split pubs and comp up.

I dont see me playing this game ever again
WHy would this bother Valve in the slightest? Linus Sebasatian claims they're the richest company on the planet right now, which can't be confirmed or denied because they're private. Do you really think they need you to play their game? Do you really think your "review" of their alpha game is going to discourage more than zero people from playing Deadlock?

Yeah maybe they dont, I thought I read it ingame, but I was wrong. My bad. Also I rewrote some of the text, because I obviously was a little tilted yesterday.

I still think we need different queues. The current system sucks, its bad for people who want to play serious, and its bad for people who want to play casual. So neither group gets satisfied. I know its an alpha, but theres not much data to be analyzed if no one plays the game anymore.

You missed a crucial part of my comment there: I dont see me playing the game, without some needed features, like draft and so on. The game can be fun but is just frustration in its current state.
Also who cares what they claim to be?! I dont. I want the game to succeed. And yes, they need me (and all the other people) to play the game, otherwise its a failure and gets shut down. And I dont want that.
Also I dont want to discourage anyone to try it out, I want the game to change to the better, so people can have fun. So the game is thriving and is there for us for years.

Why do so many people think criticism = bad?! Or that people who criticize hate the product? Theres not just black and white, youre allowed to criticize bad things about stuff you like.

Except normies will play it no matter what state it's in. People still buy EA games in 2024 because we're so conditioned to buying whatever slop comes out of triple A companies. I may not be this person, and you may not be this person, but the majority of gamers are. Jedi Survivor was a disaster of a game, but its playerbase still hit tens of thousands just because it was made by EA. Valve don't have nearly as bad of a reputation as EA, and I know people will play Deadlock until the day the servers get shut down.

I'm an open-source developer, and I have lots of my own personal projects. People write issues/bug reports every week telling me how my projects should work how they would like them to work, and how I should change functionality not for the better, but for this one user to be able to use my project to suit their specific needs. I have never once asked for any kind of recommendations on my code, or advice for how to make it help anyone but myself more. People can use my things, and I'm fine with that, but it never was never. and will never be for them. Your review hit me in the heart a little too hard, and I can understand why I may have lashed out a little too passionately, but Valve never said they want advice. End users often think everyone wants advice, but I don't, and I'm assuming that Valve don't either. If they did, they would have made a thread for advice. It's clear they want bug reports, and some other stuff like new character suggestions and whatnot, and as much as the end user mightn't understand, I certainly do, and I completely get it if that's what they're going for.

Also consider prioritization: there's a finite amount of people working on the project and a finite amount of working hours. As such some stuff will be added to a "pending" pile while other, more critical stuff is being worked on. The fact that something isnt being addressed now does not mean it hasnt been noticed, it might as well be they dont have anyone free to work on that.
