NPC Interaction

Whenever I play games that have a lane and minion system, one of the builds that I always like to try is a Lane Clearing build. Because technically, that IS the main objective, and it can be somewhat fun. However, when messing around in Deadlock, it comes to my attention that not many items label whether or not they affect NPC's. I don't really have any specific few to name, but when messing around, it feels to me like some of them don't work, and I don't have the patience to try to figure out if items are or aren't doing anything by looking at long lists of numbers in Sandbox, especially since getting items in general boosts stats, and I would have to factor those in.

So, simply put: What interacts with NPC's, and what doesn't? Does "Target" just mean anything hit, or does it mean heroes, or does it change based on context? Because even some hero abilities have "Target" in them and they only work on heroes, but stuff like Crippling Headshot also says target, but I have no clue if it does stuff with NPC's or not. Can anyone help me with this?

"lane clearing" is not a build per sae. It's really easy for everyone to clear creep waves. Monster rounds alchemist fire and then just general dps increasing things are good against objectives. Cold front is great for farming.

Well, even if it isn't a strict build, I still like to play as it. Means I can still technically help the team with my mediocre-ish skills. Seven with a bunch of ricochet upgrades is quite fun to play as. It's just that I don't know what other upgrades work :(

Clearing creeps as a play style will not work. If you mean clearing objectives there are plenty of characters and builds for that. If you mean farming a lot to be super strong late game there are plenty of characters and builds for that.

Well, technically, the build isn't just entirely around the minion clearing, just more so area damage that happens to be good at minion clearing. I know, it's not a valid playstyle to ignore the enemy heroes and objectives, calm down
