Nightowl - Character Concept With Drawings, Abilities and Custom Voicelines

Hello, i have created another hero concept! This time a mysterious occultist/magician who is generally filling a support role as an alternative to other characters like viscous, ivy or dynamo.

This time i did proper drawings for the character, abilities and even custom voicelines! I don't generally like using AI but creating quality voiceovers are generally hard, i added plenty of effects to make it sound cool though so there's still that human touch, works for a concept either way.

Here are the new version of the abilities, they are a bit less interesting but i tried to keep as much as possible without making them too crowded. Lmk if you think there's more room for improvement.

Infused Hatchling is now just a straight bomb ability, this is the skill i'm least happy with. Definitely needs another overhaul.

Spectral Wand is pretty cool now, it's a good scaling heal for the team but can be focused to be destroyed by the enemy. In the late game it can scale well and with Spectral Wand + Nest combo you can protect the wand and heal yourself and nearby allies safely, alternatively it's a great escape tool as well.

Nest is a more fun Ethereal Shift in a way, you can push enemies into ults or break up fights if you have enough distance on your push (the scaling number is wrong, but i'm too lazy to fix it rn so imagine a lower value) It's basically 4 seconds of invulnerability and a 10m vertical dash to get out of situations, with the replenished stamina you can air dash away to escape, or chain your vertical jump with the wand to get into fights quickly and provide some support there.

Hatch remains mostly unchanged but got significant cooldown increase, but T2 upgrade now lowers the CD based on what is cleansed, if the enemy is debuff heavy you can get some good CD reduction. It's a good ability to separate a target in a teamfight for a short while.

Thank you, i'm open to ability reworks if you have any ideas. I'm especially not happy with the first ability, it's a bit too generic right now.
Maybe give it a smaller area and remove the damage but if it hits an enemy it spawns a few owls that seek out nearby enemies and then damages/applies the status debuffs? Like Nazeebo’s spiders in Heroes of the Storm. Maybe also allies can pop them like soul orbs to make them explode, or maybe heal the ally that popped them?
 
Shame about the AI voice, your art is great already. Try using your own voice next time, it might be better. AI cadence and inundation behind every words are quite (sorry for the pun) robotic. I played DnD and people are afraid that they have to do voices and everything, but really all you had to do is change the way you talk (speed, accent, style) to convey the character better than a fitting voice. Also, some lines are too long, mid game voice lines needs to be succinct and punchy, one-liner if you may.
For the M1, maybe think the way that it combos with other abilities. Right now it seems disjointed (not that official characters doesn't have unrelated skills), or even change it to be more magician-like since NightOwl is one. Currently most of his abilities are bird related instead of magician-like. I see that it is a creep farming ability (which almost all heroes have). Perhaps just a pulling out the birds out of his hats works. Since most of his kits revolves around debuffs, a simple spirit power decrease on the enemy for less spirit damage should be simple enough (also Silence on a ranged ability is super strong, Geist's requires line of sight and short range). I was thinking like Mirage scarab that the hatchlings are lobbed then they could walk in a straight line and home into the target before it explodes. Downsides would definitely be unlike Mirage scarabs there's less verticality/horizontallity(?)
 
imo the invulnerable flight should be moved from wand to nest

That is a great idea. I'll try to make an alternative version which does that. Will post here when it's done.

Yeah, English is my second language and i don't have speaking practice to voice act in character without any accent.

The long speech is to give insight about the character and personality, if it ever was to added to the game it would be shortened quite a bit i'm sure.

Hat and birds seem like a great combination, pretty magician like and would fit the character. I'll look into it. The reason abilities are bird related is the character itself seems to be embracing it as a personality trait, maybe as a symbol of freedom. (If i were to write lore it would be connected to this)

Silence thing was a result of me wanting to release it soon, i couldn't think of a good upgrade and was looking to change the ability alltogether so it came out like this, it's pretty stupid i know. The suggestion above seems to be a good one. Seeking birds for every hero hit might work for this ability. I want it to be interactive and if you hit multiple heroes it should be stronger.

That kind of makes sense but i thought 2 would be the movement ability so implemented it that way. Maybe i'll change it, bird flight + nest would be a great ability to save teammates in fights but i removed healing from nest so it might be underwhelming in its current form. (It only replenishes stamina rn)

I'll post an alternative version soon, i'll see if lifesteal could be implemented.

Wow, I like the theme of spectral and being a mysterious human-bird hybrid really fits well to Deadlock. Good thing you also stayed away from the bird with long beaks that is associated with plague and centering its abilities around it, which is a bit cliche.

It's a plague doctor looking magician, also added the flower eyes and bushes instead of feathers for a unique look. I wish i had made an ability with the wand turning into a flower or something.
 
Well, now there is magician in the game (though not directly added to the roster). I haven't tried playing him yet but i hope it's a similar design. I'll check out his abilities and maybe merge some of those with my character's abilities as a revision.
