New topic: some people just don't get it

I updated to a better example of the first sentence.

There's a type of player who is going to play their own game within the game, and if you ask them to not do a thing or change what they're doing, they lose their mind.

Every body wants to excuse bad behavior and a literal throw along with wishing someone a bad time/derank, etc. Things that should not be happening in game. If someone has a problem with a way something was said, they can respond like a well behaved person, not like a spoiled child.

Not the first time someone has thrown a game like this, and I'm pretty sure reports are useless in this scenario.

So what even can be done?

Nobody is obligated to play for win : )
I strongly disagree

When you play a team game you are agreeing to the social contract that 1) the game has rules and an objective, 2) you'll follow those rules and try to meet that objective

This is why the developers really need to spell things out because people are throwing ranked matches, and another person's response being about about 'no obligation to play to win' is really mind boggling to me. It needs to be made abundantly clear that some matches are supposed to be competitive and players need to play to win

no but seriously, whilst i disagree with that mentality to an extent in competitive games, games are just that. GAMES. they're there to have fun. if this dude is having fun then so be it. besides you have a soul difference.

also, sometimes people just want to learn new heroes. again i wouldnt recommend that in competitive but still

What *can* Valve do? The best thing you can do in this situation is report them and hope they're MM-banned or something. There's basically nothing you can do about that in the game other than trying to let it go and not let that particular match affect you.

As unfun as it is, there's just no way to avoid it or somehow punish people out of it (aside from MM cooldown maybe, but I can imagine it not working for everyone).

Not to mention the current state of the game - it's not a full release, with a lot of stuff only being ironed out. Do keep up with the feedback, but don't treat the Deadlock you're playing these days as the Deadlock we'll be playing when it hits 1.0... or any other version after that.

BEEEEEECAREFULLLL what you type in those report messages, im currently shadow banned. When solo Im match made with w.e team the system determines is supposed to lose. I know youre like how tf do you know that. Well after having a fairly good mm experience since (i started playing in september) after a few rage reports i noticed my teammates become trolly bots. I mean in RANKED more than 1 team mate 0-8 or worse within the first 10 minutes, throwing themselves into the enemy theN blaming you (trolling), the servers im constantly put on are far away usually high ping, russian names now, low level steam accounts, low hours on deadlock, no ranking on ranked, and the other team is a stomp every time. I had close decent games, decent w/L in the last 2 weeks of ranked, but this weeks set after the mald reports and the shadow ban, im talking 8 games straight loses with trolls on the team or just casuals who didnt care with no rank. Not once did i get placed with a team similar to me to see if i can keep up. It was NEVER like this until I started malding in the reports. So BECAREFUL, TRUST they will respond faster to hurt feelings then anything the game needs.

theres 3 more ranked loses on the next page. Lop sided blow outs with straight trolls/mismatched ppl on my team, back to back to back

Not in ranked, that's what standard modes are for

Oh yeah, you can absolutely tell when you're in a team with 5 bags that you're supposed to carry and the enemy is 2x everyones farm.
Its blatant as hell lol

Wondering what they're actually trying to accomplish with a system like that.

The game is still in playtesting. Experimental design tends to involve the changing of variables under observation, so as to expand the body of known facts and further inform operative assumptions. Doesn't that answer all questions regarding peculiar back-end behavior..?

Are you justifying systemic discrimination?

I agree with ranked, but when I play casual quickplay I just do whatever I want, you have to have a place where you can just have fun.

The match in question is ranked.

I kind of agree with you, but there has to be a way to force at least some responsibility for that kind of behavior in the ranked mode. Either cooldowns for MM and/or something akin to the Trust Factor from CS:GO (not sure if that's still a thing in CS2); my experience with the latter was actually great - you basically get better lobbies for being a good team mate and not ruining the day for anybody. I think it can still be manipulated, like when someone reports you for no real reason, but that kind of behavior can get reflected and backfire severely, too.

Sadly it's how people who play FPS games see themselves. As long as they get kills, the objectives don't matter at all. On the bright side at least the people you play with speak English and don't shout slurs at you when you try to communicate with them in English. I can't say what language, because that might be insensitive.

are you sure you aren't just paranoid? (for lack of a better word, not trying to insult here)
I'm not a ranked player so I have no idea, but that might be too much of a shady system for a playtest, I think

anyway I like when games match you with people that behaves like you, so you are more likely to have "your kind of people" in your lobbies, leaving the enriching experience of strangers pointing out everything that you did wrong when they die to a lucky few in hi-toxicity rated lobbies.

they did that in League of Legends a hundred years ago when I played, and it was the most beautiful summer ever, don't know if they still do that because I wouldn't touch that game with a ten-foot pole.

I assume that kind of system is hard to monitor and could hurt the playtest badly, and I don't even play ranked so what do I know.
