Mercurial Magnum equivalent for casters

Currently you can deal quite a bit of Spirit damage by shooting in Deadlock, with abilities and items, but there is no equivalent for spells. This leads to a strange situation where you always build Spirit resistance but only situationally build Bullet resistance.
There needs to be an item which mirrors Mercurial Magnum, but in the other direction.
T4 Gun item
Soul Shrapnel
Imbued on ability
When the Imbued ability is used, all your spells deal a percentage of your Weapon damage in addition to their normal damage. Percentage is based on the spirit scaling for that ability, but lower.
20 seconds cooldown, 6 seconds duration.

there is an identity to damage types - spirit is "chip damage", low but hard to avoid, and gun is "direct damage" - high but easy to avoid. So, to apply your gun damage you need to aim, ond for applying spirit damage aiming is optional. Mercurial magnum suits that idea, Soul shrapnel doesn't

The idea is quite unusual, but how useful this item would be? If you play with spirit build, why would you need weapon damage?

I see only one purpose to this item - apply debuffs from weapon items. The item could be cheaper, since it requires investments to both types of damage to be useful.

Bit off topic, but...

There is a general trend of gun heroes both dealing and benefitting from spirit. Seven, Wraith and Infernus can have a lot of synergy between spirit and weapon because of their abilities, and there are way more weapon items that give spirit damage, than spirit items that give weapon damage (currently 0, while weapon has mystic shot, toxic bullets, tesla, capacitor, backstabber, alch fire, mercurial while a spirit item directly interacts with gun).

But most true spirit heroes only benefit from a small number of weapon items. Pocket and Mina buy Mystic Shot and Cultists Sacrifice and Yamato buys Express Shot.

Having spirit items that make your gun buff your abilities, abilities buff your gun, or have your abilities deal weapon damage would definetly be nice, and dealing hybrid damage makes it harder for enemies to just buy Spirit Resilience and be done with you.

So I agree with the general sentiment.
