Have not been able to test this in an actual game, only the sandbox, but Magician's assistant seems to retain after death. Assuming you put your first 3 AP into assistant to increase its duration to 10 seconds and cast it immediately before death, it can potentially outlast the respawn timer and would allow you to teleport immediately back into your lane once respawned.
