The hop twi4232752.lnk.telstra.net - 138.217.208.158
Is jumping ping from 8-15ms up over 100.

I've called my ISP who tells me that even though "Telstra" is named at the node, it is part of the local network and might be privately owned. A server or router might be fried? I'm not familiar enough with network technology to guess.
Apparently this has happened several times to DOTA players in the past as well.

Is there a way to get this addressed, besides posting here... which doesn't really feel like the right place.

how funny.
i just got through talking with my provider about what i could do. i used ping plotter to track exactly where the ping is coming from and find twi4232752, google it, and find the only result is this post on the deadlock forum where i started my original search about this problem.

anyways iv been dealing with the exact same thing for about a week. no idea why this is happening but im going to make some calls to telstra andd get back to my provider to see if they can fix this. was not a problem until recently.

Where did you find info that says its happened to dota players before? im getting my own data together for this problem because im bored and have allot of time on my hands. Its happening to my dota right now aswell as tf2. only on valve games. but dota gets allot more attention than deadlock (support wise) and fixing it for that might make it work for deadlock to.

Thx for the post. great to know im not going crazy and not the only one.

Re: Dota players:
Just something I've seen through googling my attempts to find a solution. There's quite a few posts on reddit and other places within the dota community of users describing exactly this problem: A the penultimate hop to valve servers spiking ping over 100.
While the exact hop differs, it is consistently associated with Valve servers and always the last (or rarely, second last) hop before landing at the destination.

I'm yet to see a single person report a solution, even those who spoke with their ISP.
As far as I can tell, eventually either they get sick of it or somebody must fix it.

cheers.

Give the server a go now. i got on to telstra and loaded into the hop and just kinda sat in it menacingly and then a few minutes after, all my ping just vanished. could be back latter but its been steady and i was actually able to play deadlock for once.
