Hi
I am successfully playing the game under linux using proton-experimental (as of 09/09/2024). The game works fine 90% of the time, yet every now and then I get a bug where the game starts crashing every 10-15 minutes, this carries on through multiple games until I reboot my PC, after which it usually goes back to working well.
Most of the times these crashes are represented by a freezing of my window while the sound keeps on playing, though sometimes I only have one audio frame on loop, and sometimes the game closes on its own immediately or after a few seconds.
I've attached multiple minidumps of these crashes, as well as a proton log which was logging during my crashes during this game : 10302406 (playing as Ivy).
I've been experiencing these crashes for a while and have recorded a bit of speculation and context for them, which I will be dumping below :
- These crashes do not appear on other games using the same proton version
- These crashes look an awful lot like freezes and crashes I originally had due to my composite manager (picom). Disabling it before playing solved them.
- They seem to be often caused by "rare" UI interaction (opening shop, using a UI-heavy ability... reloading even ?) though sometimes they appear completely random (could be linked to killfeed or other unpredictable UI events).
- Shifting window focus to another window also seems to sometimes cause the crash, though this is not consistent.
Settings and hardware info :
I run arch-6.10.7 with Xorg & i3 for my windows.
CPU : AMD Ryzen 7 4800H
GPU : NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 Mobile
RAM : 16Gb
I use dx11 for rendering, native resolution and preset "fastest" graphics quality.
Using Vulkan causes similar crashes almost immediately, I haven't tested it much. Resolution and graphics settings didn't seem to impact the crashes through my rather extensive testing.
I can somewhat tinker and would be happy to do any additional testing as I can reliably reproduce these crashes.
