Kinetic Impact (Slide-To-Stun Weapon Item)

I had a similar idea for one of my items threads but scrapped it at the concept phase because I thought it would be too powerful with high movement speed heroes who could spam slides, never thought at the time to just add a cooldown to it 🤦‍♂️

I like the idea and I think it's smart to let it be parried too, maybe give it some kind of component where it deals bonus damage proportionate to your current movement speed or something? So if you hit them at the tail end of your slide as you're slowing down it doesn't do quite as much, but if you hit them while going fast down a ramp or something it deals bonus damage.

Is Deadlock going to make it into your next movement shooter video?

I love the idea of the impact being proportional to the speed of the slide itself. Having the stun/knockback scale with move speed is a really cool idea too.

Probably going to get its own video at some point.

As long as having it get parried triggers a reduced CD I think this would be a great item that would help players pick fun playstyles more.

Though, it might be super broken on Snek.

Yeah I think having it scale could lead to some fun use cases with good use of the map or movement speed increasing abilities/items

I was going to ask how you were able to mod your items into the game to see if there was a guide out there as I have a bit of programming knowledge myself and wouldn't mind trying it out on some of my own items, but looking at it again its just clever video editing? Really smooth work haha

Looking forward to a video on the game if you do decide to make one, I enjoy your work and thought this would be right up your alley

I like it.
One thing I worry is that it could be too invisible, what's an ordinary slide vs empowered slide.
Some kind of vfx on startup would help give enemies a heads up.

Something I'd use this item for is intercepting people during a chase. Instead of running away you can run *into* them, then take a sharp turn.

Kinetic Dash has an orange aura on activation, I didn't edit that into the demonstration but I would envision some kind of similar aura or a unique slide trail for Kinetic Impact (either a color shifted trail or with more debris following the trail, that type of thing)

Or maybe more logically some kind of front-facing barrier during the slide to convey that contact with the slider is dangerous. Or a big orange boot that hovers in front of the slider.

For this item, I think the best VFX would be an instant front facing burst effect, which would be easier to react to than a trail building up through time.

With that being said, I'd love to see this item in. This game has a lot of movement options that can be pushed further.

This is a really cool idea, I could see it being busted on heroes like paradox or lash, I think it would need an internal cd to avoid abuse by characters with stuns because you won't have a chance to parry it.

This mechanic looks fun, but i think an instant stun is too powerful for a 4250 cost item, even if there's counter play options and visual indication. Maybe the slide impact could pop up the enemy like a Bebop uppercut with less horizontal momentum?
