I haven't been able to recreate this with a bot player. Perhaps the picked-up player needs to cancel before the wind-up is complete.

You can do a much weaker version of this by cancelling ult with stone form when the Air Drop ability timer hits 0.5s (when casting it).

I did the slingshot with a bot Ivy picking me up. Seems like only the picked-up player can trigger it, by cancelling the flight as they're snapped to Ivy's position.

This might be more momentum than the zipline momentum tech. It could be used for a fast Urn run with some coordination.
