The new improved burst only procs if you deal at least 200 spirit damage in a single hit. I wanted to test it's effectiveness on pocket, and noticed possibly unwanted behaviour. I've built my satchel to have just over 200 damage.
When using it against the dummy with no items:
And and when using it against a dummy with spirit armor:
Now, this is the intended behaviour. The spirit armor blocks 20% of the incoming damage, and the satchel deals 40 less dmg, therefore mystic burst threshold is not met and the item does not proc. Things get weird when we amplify our damage with pocket's barrage though.
This is what happens with 4 stacks of T3 barrage (40% dmg amplification) against a dummy with spirit armor:
The damage threshold of 200 was met, but mystic burst didn't proc. Perhaps it has to do with the order in which damage is calculated? So then I tried to lower my satchel damage under 200 dmg, and then try to amplify it with barrage.
This is what happens with 4 stacks of T3 barrage, which should bring the satchel over the threshold:
Alas, the improved burst did not proc. This leads me to believe that improved burst's check is applied before the damage amplification of pocket's barrage, which in my opinion is kind of unfair considering the recent changes.
I'm not sure if this is intended or not, but I personally would like to see it changed, because improved burst feels way too late game otherwise, and definetly not worth the 3.5k souls.
