The "searching for match" message on the top left kept changing into "not connected to steam". I exited the game and relaunched it, in an attempt to fix the connection problem. When I relaunched the game, I was immediately warned about abandoning a match, but was given the option to rejoin. Rejoining the match placed me in the midboss room as everyone was lined up before the match started, but "This match can be abandoned" was on the top right. The whole game was played out like normal, otherwise.
I have no grievance with the minor matchmaking ban, but I'm not sure whether or not the penalty was warranted considering the unfortunate timing of queuing up, and also immediately rejoining
