Haven't seen this posted here from what I've noticed..
I found this yesterday during my first time playing. During the Hero Training, I was practicing the mechanics of a certain hero and eventually racked up around 6,000 souls. I reached the portion of the training where you are instructed to buy items for your hero and I bought an item for 6,000 souls. Once I clicked on the item (I think it was 'Leech'), the following occurred:
While I recognize that the Hero Training might not be meant for purchasing things that are that expensive, I don't believe that this is supposed to be the intended behavior.
NOTE: I did try to get a screenshot of the frozen buy menu/souls issue, but I'm having trouble recreating it at the moment. I've managed to trigger it with two different heroes (Seven/Wraith), both while having already destroyed the enemy Guardian before buying a single item.

- The item was put in my inventory
- The buy menu stood frozen on the screen
- I was then given ~27,000 souls
- I was unable to press any buttons or move my cursor
