Hero Idea: Summoner/Minion focused character

Since Victoria is a minion character, I thought it would fit if she looked similar to the Troopers/Guardians and, as you know, the two patrons have different colored faces, so thought that her colors could also change depending on which patron she is working for.

  • Primary weapon is similar to that of the Guardians, basically being a fire laser. And a lobbed explosive secondary fire, like that of the Walkers.
  • 1st ability - Focus Mark- Mark an enemy player temporarily. Nearby ally Troopers and ally objectives (Guardians, Walkers, Patrons) focus that player and deal extra damage to them (bonus damage scales with spirit). But also, while the enemy is marked, each time you deal bullet damage to them, they lose some bullet resist to facilitate a gun focused build.
    • Maybe even jungle NPCs and/or Rejev also deal extra damage to the player while marked.
      • Feel like this could just be a big debuff to Bullet/Spirit Resist vs. NPCs for the marked player. Probably would be easiest to implement.
  • 2nd ability - Soul Drain- Target and damage a nearby enemy target/ally Trooper. On kill, gain a temporary buff depending on the target. Such as gun troopers giving bonus ammo and firerate, melee troopers give bonus max HP and medic troopers gives you a healing aura. Ally troopers are instantly killed and heal you for 50% of their remaining HP. Player kills gives stronger/multiple buffs.
    • Upgrade ideas:
    • 1. This ability deals extra damage the lower HP the target is.
    • 2. The buffs gained by this ability also apply to ally players inside your Rally aura, but are reduced in effectiveness when applied to allies.
  • 3rd ability - Rally - Both a passive and active ability. Passive: Nearby ally troopers become stronger - for example, +25% bonus attack speed and +50% movement speed - while allied players get 1/5th of the bonus, including you. I think that the buff should linger for a little bit, 3-5s, after an ally/trooper leaves the aura. Active: Summons two regular Troopers nearby. The number of troops summoned scales on boons, for example, summons 1 more Trooper for every 5 boons.
    • Upgrade Ideas: 1. Some of the damage you take is redirected to nearby troopers. (Example: There are 5 troopers nearby, each takes 3% of the damage you take in your stead, resulting in 5 x 3% = 15% damage redirected.)
  • 4th ability/Ult - Summon Guardian - Airstrikes in a full on Guardian anywhere on the map (the map opens up and you click where you want the Guardian to be dropped with some restrictions, such as not allowing air drops inside the enemy base unless there are a bunch of ally troopers in there), with an Alt-cast which allows you to target in person instead without restrictions, up to a certain cast range. The Guardian also shares your Rally ability, giving the buff to nearby allies and troopers. The Guardian is temporary, such as automatically dying after a duration or slowly loses HP over time. If the guardian dies from "old age", it drops no Souls.
    • Upgrade Ideas: The Guardian now Summons troopers if you cast Rally.
Lore:
When Victoria was young, she fell in love with a strange but lovely boy. They only grew closer during the years and at last, they got married, however, soon after, Victoria learned that she was slowly dying of an unknown disease, but unwilling to let her go, in a last ditch attempt to save her, her husband basically went "I know a guy" and one day, she awoke in her new body. Altho she was now of metal, her heart was still beating. They lived on for a few decades, but strangely, the husband never seemed to age. And at last, one day, the OSIC decided that her husband was a worthy target to eliminate for some reason unknown to her. Now she is on the run, yet know of the patrons, and is unsure on if she should take revenge, or revive her husband. But she also wonders, what had her husband done to get the attention of such a dark organization?

Voiceline ideas:
Lash kills Victoria:
"The Statue of Liberty looks So much better than your sorry ass."
"Look at that, even the troopers are gaining sentience now. Let's kill them!"
"I've defeated one bucket of bolts before, you're no different."

Bebop kills Victoria:
"Don't mind if I grab some spare parts from you? Damn, you look fancy."
"Damn, why did you have to work for the other patron?"
"Whoever made you must have had a lot of money to spare."

McGinnies kills Victoria:
"Oh man, oh man, do I want to dissect you and see what you're made out of."
"Something that looks like it was made by a Patron's hands, but falls over that quickly? Really?"

Haze kills Victoria:
"That's one loose end taken care of."
"I would say I'm sorry for your loss, but I'm not."

Lorewise, feels like a great fit into the universe.
Gameplay wise, we've been shown valve does dabble with NPCs interactions via the turrets mostly, as well as most ally support abilities also working on the troops. So a whole hero dedicated to that, could work.
Though, her interaction with the rejuv buff could be problematic.

Good point about the rejuv buff! Did not consider that one at first, but yeah, I can certainly see that. Could you specify what parts of the kit/upgrades you feel are the most problematic?

Right now I could see how the biggest potential offender would be that the Ult Guardian could summon additional Troopers, but that was just one idea, not necessarily a needed part of the kit.

Soul Drain would definitely benefit a lot from the rejuv, massively buffing the heal, but we already have a bunch of other abilities and items that already give large heals, but also deal damage at the same time, not to mention the holy Cube~, our lord and savior. Plus, the many ways of applying healing reductions, and it takes out a Trooper that the enemies won't have to deal with to balance it out. But if it's still too strong, there could be a ceiling on how much Victoria could regain from the ability, like max 35% of her max HP.

Rally however, just a passive buff to Troopers when rejuv boosted, yeah, that can be a bit broken, which is why I never gave a concrete buff, since that I feel would need to be tested. But a speed boost I feel would be really nice to have on the aura. Speed boosting troopers and allies to Walkers and Base Bosses I think would feel satisfying. Or possibly, changing the aura to apply Active Item buffs that only apply to yourself also apply to Troopers, such as Fleet Foot and Fury Trance, but not items that can have external effects, such as Scorn, Healing Nova, Alch-Fire or Cold Front. This way, the player would actually need to spend some resources and slots to buff up the Troopers instead of just being there.

The damage redirection from the Rally upgrade I also can see becoming busted with the tougher Troopers, so it could also instead be a flat damage redirection shared amongst nearby ally Troopers, the damage is redirected only towards the closest ally Trooper, or the redirection gets diminishing returns the more ally Troopers are nearby

I feel like the clearest problem is a global map summon Guardian, that is both way too much power at pro play as well as unintuitive and problematic in casual play. Keeping it to a local summon would be safer.
I can see it upgrading into the walker and the patron eventually aswell, though with those his power would need a nerf, these objectives are a lot more powerful than the guardian.

I love the idea of incorporating active items into Rally, would make for a great choice in buildcrafting, without the itemization the troopers that follow you would be weaker but you could invest in your own power, but if you were to focus on them you would spec into these more supportive items.
Also i see an interesting dichotomy as Victoria would be quite a lot weaker in the jungle than on lane, meaning potential vulnerabilities while travelling cross map.
