Semi-inspired by 50's Sci-fi robots + The Maschinenmensch from Metropolis. Would have a billionaire CEO controlling it from safely within a distant skyscraper ( could incorporate distant lights in a control room window as a small map Easter egg). Motivation for participation could vary, but my main idea was that he's using the ritual to show off new tech either in competition with Fairfax or in an attempt to get some sort of partnership with them. This could provide interesting interactions with other characters in the NY business world and maybe give lore insight to what American industry looks like in the Deadlock world beyond Fairfax. 
I imagine the controller is sort of the stereotypical wall-street type of guy. Cocky and totally inept (robo-ky sort of character) or overly serious to a ridiculous degree. Big emphasis on him being ridiculous as I think the physical humor that an animated robot body can have should not be understated and can give a lot of room for different abilities/the armory a robot specifically built to fight might posses. Could theoretically include some kind of unique overheat mechanic due to faulty mechanical design, etc. lots of room for interesting kit ideas. Included below are some Robo-Ky sprites I think are particularly funny and/or inspiring for the design/personality
