i know this doesnt exactly suit the theme of deadlock considering nightingale is british and also died in 1910 at really old but hear me out pls
(dont have any art either lol. sorry just imagine some nurse in your head lol. it might not be the most original concept but it makes alot of sense for the deadlock world i think)
Background
What does this character do?
Particularly in lower ELO games (i play mid elo, so take what i say with big grain of salt) there often lacks any sorta counter to large ults from characters such as Lash or Dynamo. While good item usage (well timed debuff remover i think works for lash. dunno abt dynamo) and positioning is imperative to countering this, it ends up being a very critical part of the gameplay to fill with a free slot that is used by an counter item, which can end up being difficult to execute correctly in the heat of battle.
Even more so, is in late game for other heroes. Unstoppable provides massive boosts to haze ult, and can make end game very very hard to fight back against without rushing to kill her, a feat even harder with a high team comp.
Nightingale is the solution to this. With powerful buffs, protection and synthesis with other teammates, nightingale helps hold teamfights together, and stave off otherwise deadly pathogens from the path to success.
What might be some problems with this character?
Freeing up a slot for your teammates is a very big deal, and it's very easy to expect that the pick rate for this character can be very high due to the sheer utility she can provide, particularly to newer players that havent yet got down reflexes to save themselves from an ult or two. This can lead to difficulty playing the character.
very abstract lore overview (also disconnected from actual deadlock lore sorry):
a female medic shot down by a sniper in war; miracously survived thanks to alcohol leaking into the wounds and disinfecting them. since then strives to purge those to
(im not a good writer, and i dunno how to write more depth to it)
Strengths
obviously against teamfighters such as seven and haze.
debuff men such as M&K and. maybe kelvin?
maintaining team fights
Weaknesses
ganks
movement characters
characters that can generally just single her out (bebop, wraith, maybe shiv and krill, possibly yamato with a good ult or two)
Moveset
Main gun:
Name: Heaven Sent Arsenic (definitely a better name for this)
Description: [TBA]
stats:
- It's a slightly reworked yamato alt fire.
- to make soul denying not a horrendous skill she could have an alt fire that is a simple pistol. sorta makes sense for her ww1 background.
- alternatively, make the bullet velocity and size closer to warden/kelvin guns
- base ammo 36 bullets (compound 606, alternative name of the Magic Bullet medicine. 6*6=36!!!!)
- long range, but low damage in general. high bullet velocity too(?)
notes:
-https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magic_bullet_(medicine) <- It's literally a magic bullet!!!!! Particularly during this time where penicillin was just barely being made!!!
-arsenic is hurt (lol)
Ability 1 (basic fight starter):
Name: Disinfection
Description: Throw an AOE bucket of liquid that gives minor spirit resist [T3: and removes debuffs (maybe too stacked?)] on teammates. When used on enemies, will suffer damage over time. 1.5x more effective on NPCs.
stats:
- 12s Cooldown
- 3% spirit resist on teammates lasting 7s
- 40 Spirit DPS over 2 seconds to enemies (scales with spirit)
- range similar to m&k's sand blast (3) but about half as small
T1: 2x more effective on NPCs.
T2: +6% spirit resist, Spirit damage lasts 3s longer.
T3: Removes debuffs. Additionally prevents debuffs for the next second. (Is this just a stupid knowledge check for newbies, or something that will actually add depth?)
notes:
MAKE SURE UNDER NO CONDITIONS THE DEBUFF REMOVAL CAN BE SELF CAST. to be fair putting debuff remover on her could essentially stifle a lash ult that is ment to take her out but blehhhh
Alternatively, this could be a move that will instantly deal all damage over time in one hit, with some other benefits. Could be very good for synergies with pocket and infernus, and might also make sense just for their characters?
Why?
provide support to teammates and chip damage that can induce debuffs when synergized with items, or deal some nice mid range multi target damage that can help soften up enemies for your teammates to finish off
notes:
- or length should scale instead maybe? i dont think it should basically be just pocket ult but as a 1
- Spirit resist should stay the same (feel like it might be really busted if you could just drop a +40% spirit resist on your seven while he ults, or an abrams with an already high spirit resist. could just make the scaling really low too though, maybe x0.1?)
Ability 2 (disability, right? mcginnis has wall here...):
Name: Mericule Drug (miracle + mercury. REALLY stupid name)
Description: Throw a handful of mercury (How? Dunno).
notes:
- honestly, have no idea what to make her 2. Something relevant to 1900s-1920s medicine, pre penicillin that provides some sorta inbhitor or. maybe movement? i dunno. PLEASE SUGGEST!!!
Ability 3 (passive/buff):
(this is essentially just debuff reducer + healing booster lol)
Name: Sanitation
Description: You gain 10% debuff resist, and any healing you do is boosted by 15%, with 35% resistance to healing reduction. Teammates 25m of you recieve the debuff resist buff divided between them. Enemies in the same area recieve the negative of this. (as in, the enemies will get -10% debuff resist)
Stats:
- sorta self explanatory
T1: Additional 10% debuff resist for you and teammates.
T2: Teammates gain an additional 5% debuff resist per teammate. (encourages teamfights)
T3: Enemies within range will also have a healing reduction of 20%.
notes:
- this in combination with debuff remover can probably just kill alotta debuffs. is this too drastic?
Why?
help take off the edge off debuffs for teammates to help them focus more on DPS and abilities and make Nightingale a target for well trained team comps. Characters with high movement such as (maybe) mirage and lash can help take them out, or even a well skilled bebop. Targeting is already sorta major for good teamplay, particularly with super strong characters such as seven and haze, so making a character that goes with them is ideal.
Ability 4 (ult):
Name: Herd Immunity (there's probably a better name for this too)
Charge for 3.5 seconds. Give you and all teammates within 10m +30% bullet resist and +20% spirit resist lasting 12 seconds. [T3] During this buff and charge, only teammates are also completely immune to debuffs. (NIGHTINGALE IS NOT!!! But, she can only be stunned to stop the charge. Sleeps and other stuff dont stop her.)
stats:
- 300s Cooldown (this should be really high imo. not every teamfight should have this, though then again if this is ment to be a counter for large damage ults like haze and seven, and later on lash with the T3, maybe should be around that cooldown. like 120, 150....)
- dunno what else
T1: Increase range to 25m.
T2: Additional 35% bullet and spirit resist.
T3: Immunity to debuffs.
notes:
-This is probably a very drastic ult. If anything should be reworked, it might have to be this. might be way too powerful.
-You might think lashes are basically dead after the T3. But I think that a lash can very easily bait an ult or two with the charge and make Nightingale waste it. Why not add some mindgames into the fray? Making the charge long means that it cant just be popped mid teamfight.
-This ult's weaknesses (primarily the damage team might take during charge) can be addressed with items such as Health Nova (sorta wish there was a higher healing version of this? could be a very helpful tool) to help assist your team while you're waiting for the charge to end so you can still panic hit but not against all ults. (abrams specifically, drop a mystic range on it and it can help stifle something like that quite easily)
Ending:
Please let me know what you think! I'm really interested to see how a character like this could change up gameplay in Deadlock. Most of my perspective is from Ritualist-Archon games, so I wanna see what other players from higher, and lower level play think this can change up their games.
Bet you got some good arguments against her.
