I like the idea of a hero who has abilities that give them extra souls however, to make it more balanced, they could have a limitation where they can only "spend" souls by putting them into their investment pool. This would allow for much more interesting design as any innately extra souls are going to be fairly strong but limiting them to ONLY be able to give health/weapon damage/spirit would allow you to go a bit more crazy with it.
 
Had this really really dumb idea for this kind of hero where the hero would trade stocks ingame using their souls and/or another currency that can be convertted with souls.

it would open up a UI and let the player invest, trade, short, long, sell.

(trading ingame stocks, trading souls into money, trading money to souls, trading souls to gold, trading money to gold, etc)

Since it would be affecting the gun industry - it may affect all player's item cost, making it cheaper or expensive.

or you could crash an industry which would lead to players temporarily unable to buy gun items.

or inflate the entire shop so everything gets more expensive.

or shrink-flation where he reduces the spirit of all items by -2.

or reduces the worth of items that affects all players investment.

The ability could passively provide base souls per minute like (lorewise) the player already has "passive income" from previously owned assets/capital

The hero would be able to get their ultimate very fast and can get a lot of souls - or spend/lose a lot of souls.
