Backstory
Faraday was created by Fairfax Industries to be a way for soldiers to fight on after death. They created a suit capable of binding a spirit and allowing them control, but the man in charge of its creation, Elijah Creed, knew little of the spirit. When his machine began to draw ghosts in, not one but four spirits were drawn into the suit. Four became eight, eight became sixteen. By the time they shut the machine down, thirty two spirits were bound into the suit, and the suit broke free.

The 32 spirits within bonded into one voice over time, and formed a collective consciousness. They named themselves Faraday after a tag on the suit (Faraday Harness). Despite their imprisonment, they maintained a connection to other spirits. They followed after it like ghastly shadows, whispering their wants and desires to it.

Faraday hid on a farm in Kansas owned Bart and Amanda Lethbridge. It was just happenstance that Faraday chose this farm, but Faraday would call it fate. While terrified at first, the Lethbridge's soon understood it was not a threat, and allowed it to stay. They helped Faraday understand its situation and develop into a person. It helped on the farm, often seen in the fields with a sickle cutting down fields of wheat by its lonesome. Bart treated Faraday like a son, often accompanying it into the fields to work and speaking to it as a person. Amanda made a point of getting to know each soul trapped within Faraday, writing a book of their life stories for Faraday to keep.

When the Lethbridge's grew ill, Faraday sat by their sides. It cared for them and their farm until it could no longer keep them comfortable. When Amanda passed, Bart asked the impossible of Faraday: To grant him mercy. And despite the pain it felt, Faraday obliged. He became a reluctant reaper, and he was alone again once more.

It stayed on the farm until Fairfax Industries found it. His creator was among them, and demanded Faraday return to the factory in Topeka. Faraday refused, wanting to tend to the farm of those who had cared for him. They tried to take him by force, but Faraday fought back. The powers of life and death awakened almost by instinct, and it wielded this in tandem with its trusty sickle to bring death to those who came for him. Elijah fled, but he would send more mercenaries after Faraday day after day. He would not stop until Faraday was brought back to Fairfax Industries, and he didn't care how many lives he had to throw at the problem.

Faraday didn't want to be a weapon. It had discovered its purpose: to bring death to the unjust, and mercy to the innocent. He was meant to be the bridge between life and death. It aspired to become the Grim Reaper. But so long as Elijah Creed hunted it, Faraday could never achieve this goal. So it travelled to New York, the Cursed Apple, to have its wish granted: To become the avatar of death, so it may end Elijah and fulfill the purpose it has chosen for itself.

Appearance
Faraday is dressed in a suit of metal and rough leather with elements reminiscent of a faraday cage. It's head is covered by a tattered cloak, with only two blue lights to represent its eyes. Its entire body is covered by this cloak, giving Faraday a grim-reaper aesthetic. His weapon is a sickle on a long handle.

Personality: Faraday speaks in a soft tone, though his voice is many voices speaking at once. It shows a genuine care for people both living and dead, with a particular soft spot for those spirits who were murdered. When referring to itself, it will use words like "we" and "us", as it's not a single personality but rather one constructed through the consensus of many. Faraday will often try to calm the nerves of those around it, reinforcing they death is nothing to fear. Though for murderers, or those who work at Fairfax Industries, Faraday will drop the kind demeanor and outright threaten them into changing their ways. It holds a particular hatred for Fairfax Industries, as they were the ones who created it and continue to use its kind for their industry without regard for the souls consumed in the process.

Gameplay
Ranged attacks fire ghostly fireballs from its left hand.
Light melee swipes with the sickle.
Heavy melee sees the left hand form spectral claws to gouge the enemy.

Abilities
  1. Spectral Touch: Fire a bolt of spectral energy, dealing AOE damage at the point of impact. Enemies hit are marked for death for 5s, dropping spectral essence you can pick up for health.
  2. Crescent Slice: Swing with the sickle in an arc in front of you, dealing melee damage and stealing health from each enemy struck. Hitting an enemy marked for death increases the health stolen.
  3. Death's Benediction: Every time an enemy is marked for death, gain a stack. Select a teammate or self to spend these stacks on, empowering them for a short time. Empowered allies gain max health and lifesteal Max stacks: 5
  4. Mercy: Grabs an enemy with the sickle, binding them and leeching 25% of your current health from them. If the enemy dies, the cooldown is reduced to 15s.

(The backstory for Faraday is longer than I would like, and his abilities are probably not balanced. But I wanted to portray a grim reaper inspired character that wasn't just "Ooo I'm so edgy, imma kill you and harvest your soul". I wanted Faraday to be someone who made death less scary. Someone who preferred to offer peace to the dying and only killed when no other choice was available. I hope I was able to portray that. Its relation to Fairfax could be developed a bit, but I think for the purpose of a concept what I wrote is okay. I hope.)
