Hero - Bobski

A Fate's Tale

Nobody knows how Bobski came to New York City, least of all himself. He is an integral part of the city's street life, a street merchant selling knicknacks and clothes, a street thug running jobs pitting rival gangs against each other, a street performer who pickpockets while he dances.

He pinches wallets, breaks knee caps, sprays gang tags, and runs hustle games. His game of choice that he often gets chased out of by scammed gambling addicts or cops is the three cup game. It's simple but he wins every time, put a ball under the cup and spin them around. Except with a sleight of hand it's always under the cup they didn't guess.

But favorite role in the streets of New York City is as a famous graffito. His identity as this artist is secret to all but himself. But the moving and living murals he creates under cover of night are unmistakable and have made his streets one of New York's tourist hotspots. He's a hero of the people and he couldn't care less.

Some voiceline ideas, just to get them out of my head:

Select:

"Up for a game of chance?"

"Time I remind them who runs these streets."

"Let's show 'em how to hustle."

"Someone's got street smarts."

"If we win, you might be the first to know who the Grand Graffito is."

"This better be important, I have some games to run."

"Make this quick, I've got to run a few street performances if you catch my drift."

"Patrons schmatrons, this city has everything I could wish for and more."

Deselect:

"You new around this town?"

"Just another mark."

"You wouldn't make it on my streets."

"The game was rigged from the start."

"I bet tomorrow morning the tourists will be lining up to see what the Grand Graffito puts up on the wall."

Levelling up abilities:

1

"Don't aim for where their knees are, aim for where they're going to be."

"I'm gonna bonk you 'til you love me."

"Everyone has a plan until I break their knees."

2

"Feeling limber."

"Those bullets are better off in MY gun."

"I'm saving them from themselves."

3

"Let's play tag."

"No, I am totally not the Grand Graffito."

"I'm gonna put my name on this city."

4

"So here's the fun part, as soon as they think they can win, they already lost."

"They just can't hustle like me."

"Heroes are the easiest marks."

Using abilities:

1 (only dealt damage)

"Swing for the fences!"

"Went easy on you this time."

"Caved a few heads in."

"It's a beat down."

"Foul Ball."

1 (damaged and stunned)

"I came to collect."

"Try chasing me now."

"Hard to kill me with your knees snapped."

"Hard to run with a broken leg, huh?"

"Stay right there."

"You had it coming."

"Threw 'em a curveball."

2

"You were just going to hurt yourself with that gun."

"Did you a favor."

"Hey what's that?"

"Look over there."

"Easier than snatching purses from old ladies."

"Should have put some money in the collection pile."

"Thanks for holding onto my bullets."

3

"Tag, you're it."

"Here's ink in your eyes."

"They will know who runs these streets."

"I'm leaving a mark on this city."

"The Grand Graffito? Me? No I'm just a hustler."

4 (ability start)

"Step right up!"

"Everyone's a winner, especially me!"

"Three Card Monte!"

"Three Shells and a Pea!"

"Which one's it gonna be?"

"Who's up for a shell game?"

"Quick, before the cops bust us!"

4 (enemy defuses)

"I'm just letting them think they win before I take all the money."

"Must have caught my hand trick."

"They might not be marks after all."

4 (multi hero silence)

"My favorite sound."

"They almost had it. Almost."

"Better luck next life!"

Rival Kills

Abrams

"We had a deal, bozo."

"I told you Abrams, you stay off my case."

"My cases stay ice cold Abrams."

"That is the last time you turn over my games."

"Nobody will know who the Grand Graffito is."

Infernus

"So you have a real job now? When were you going to repay your debts?"

"Love the smell of burning spray paint."

Ivy

"Down goes the goody two-shoes who killed my best employers."

"The Mendozas always had the best jobs."

"You look good with my gang signs on you."

Viscous

"I could tell you were new to town from a mile away."

"These streets were nasty enough without your slime."

Mirage

"Foreign tourists are just too easy to scam."

"Here to see the Grand Graffito?"

"Hey Neshala, ditch this loser and come with me."

Wraith

"I remember you, always getting suckered into another round."

"You learned from the best, now you die like the rest."

"You aren't half the hustler I am."

"Sloppy and predictable, Wraith."

"Card games are for suckers who can't run a shell game."

"Next Sunday I'm flipping your games over."

Ability Rivalry

1

Abrams using Shoulder Charge or Seismic Impact to dodge Kneecap

"The Detective's got some moves!"

"Steeerike!"

"He's on my case!"

2

Mo & Krill using Sand Blast to Disarm Bobski after successful Sticky Fingers

"Come on Mo. Thought we were pals."

"Hey, fight fair guys!"

3

Enemy blinded by Spray Tag hits Bobski with AOE crowd control

"Fugettaboutit!"

"I tagged 'em and now they wanna bag me!"

4

Haze using Bullet Dance to automatically defuse Cup Game

"The feds flipped my game over!"

"Run! Run! It's the feds!"

"Since when was scamming people in street games a federal offense?"

"Aw crap, I think she knows who the Grand Graffito is."

goals with the voiceline script:

Bobski is a Renaissance Man (technically interdimensional frog-squid-shaped artifact, but he likes to be referred to as the man) of the mean streets of the Cursed Apple. He comes from a world completely unknown to him, but as far as he cares Manhattan was where he was always meant to be.

He is a street hustler who does dance performances (so he can pickpocket you), runs errands (for gangsters who want you dead), and hosts games of chance (that he always wins). Not many of the other characters like him, but they used to have to deal with him when they were on their way down into the criminal underworld.

But secretly, he is one of the most famous artists in the entire city. Only problem is, he doesn't want anyone to know as it would draw too much scrutiny to his extremely illegal lifestyle. If Bobski revealed himself to be the Grand Graffito, it would damage the reputation he was able to give his neighborhood as as tourist hot spot.

Maybe that's what he came to complete The Ritual for, to let go of his past. Could be another one of his scams, too.

I like the character a lot, and there are elements of the ability designs that are very interesting and creative!

yeah i wanted a character that reflects the cool design and how he looks weird but grows on your quick fits the world of deadlock weirdly well.

basically he plays as a ninja character and wants to constantly be in the enemy's face but always barely out of reach. he borrows ideas from other valve games (his 3 is the spray system people love in tf2 and cs:go), bethesda games (2 is based on how pickpocketing works in skyrim and fallout), nintendo games (the blind is based on the squid ink in mario kart), and street games (his ultimate explains how the shell game that street hustlers play is used to trick people but with a few deadlock keywords applied).

as well, deadlock features a lot of gangsters from new york city. he reflects various aspects of what petty crooks do in real life. he wants to always try to get your attention on something else and make you play by his rules... only to break those rules, break your kneecaps, and steal your bullets to shoot his own bombs so they blow up right in your face.
