I’ve been weirdly getting some gunZ: the duel vibes from this game in some cases, thought it would be cool to have a hero inspired from that. Specifically the K-Style from gunZ
This hero is an agile robot with two shotguns and an energy sword.
Ability 1: Two Pump Action Shotguns
The hero carries two shotguns that can be switched between by pressing 1. Both of these shotguns have their own set of ammo. Switching shotguns automatically pumps the shotgun.
This is your damage dealer bread and butter.
For ability 1 you will be incentivized to switch shotgun after every shot so you don’t have manually pump it. This results in a little bit of timing and muscle memory. And would be a ton of fun/satisfying from a game feel perspective. There’s lots that could be built onto this in terms of talents. One shot gun could also slow, the other deal extra damage, switching could give you move speed, etc… There is a drawback with having to make sure both your shotguns are reloaded, so makes for some interesting gameplay.
Ability 2: Wave Dash
For 15 seconds the hero has unlimited air dashes (With 2 seconds between dashes). Dashing into walls of any kind allows the hero to traverse up them.
This is your movement ability which allows you to traverse the map quickly. Could imagine fighting a Kelvin while air dashing up walls for some interesting air battles. Adds more verticality to this game as he can actually move through the air instead of simply jumping up high which I think is a unique selling point of this game!
Maybe this ability is passive too, I’m not sure it would need to be balanced pretty much to whatever is the most fair.
There is an item that gives you another air dash, so I’m not sure the devs thoughts on having characters that modify these core abilities.
Ability 3: Barrier Shield? / Grenade?:
Ability 3 could be a variety of things.
A grenade would give him something to do from range if he’s stuck defending a siege and give him some sort of poke/aoe wave clear and more jungle potential. As well as giving him some spirit damage. Making him a bit more well rounded.
The barrier shield could be a shield that lasts for 3 seconds and then bursts depending on damage taken, which deals damage and slows enemies. This gives him some protection from damage as he gets in for a backline 1-1 while also still giving him some more wave clear and a spirit ability.
Ability 4 Ultimate: Slash Strike:
The hero unsheathes his energy sword to deliver a single target melee range attack if this hits an enemy hero they are stunned for 1 second.
This is your initiate. Imagine you’re wave dashing to get close to someone then you pop your close range skill shot ult to stun them, then you follow up by cycling through your pump action shotties.
Playstyle:
This hero is an agile movement based assassin. Use your shield then dash through the air to get close to enemies and use your ultimate, follow up with your two pump action shotguns to finish them off.
Though his ult is melee range he is also very happy fighting in close-mid range where he can still use his pump action shotguns effectively.
His shield allows him to clear waves and jungle, though he could get something like Tesla bullets to assist in that.
He’s also a master of the skies, where he can effectively fight people like Kelvin. He also has the ability to not only fight but get close to other people that like to camp in the skies far away like Vindicta or Grey Talon. Or maybe he goes on a suicide mission to kill Seven mid ult while he’s way up high in the sky.
There is also something very satisfying about cycling through shotguns each shot that not only feels good but also looks freaking sick and makes you feel like a badass.
