unsure if it's intentional or not, but ghouls exploding act like a psuedo knockdown, dragging you to the ground and interrupting movement abilities in their area of effect.

Had a couple of instances where I'd Shiv dash through them and get yoyo'd back to them because of this.
Just thought it might be a bug because the tooltip on the ability doesn't say anything about forced movement.
