When you hold down M1 as Graves without maxing Essence Theft the drain-beam snaps to the next soul instantly, making it effortless to secure souls.
But with a maxed Essence Theft holding M1 will lock your beam onto a single soul, even after you secure it. Meaning you have to re-click M1 in order to lock onto another soul. So maxing Essence Theft actually nerfs you in this specific situation.
In the first clip of the video I'm simply holding down M1. In the second clip I need to click multiple times to secure more than one soul.

(Out of curiosity I also tested both use cases with and without Ricochet. Ricochet does not have any impact on this bug, it is purely an issue with her T3 Essence Theft upgrade. Just felt the need to mention that since the 1st clip has Ricochet and the 2nd doesn't.)
