Getting a lot of assists without actually helping?

There were numerous instances in this game where I was getting assists while our Seven was on the other side of the map and I didn't assist in ways that would normally grant assists. I believe this might be a result of me casting Divine Barrier on him some time ago and it registered assists need to be applied even though it shouldn't have. Not entirely sure of the reason but this is what I suspect. This might be a dynamo specific bug.

Same happened to me in one of my matches just now, playing as Shiv. Match ID 5674610

I figured out how Vindicta gets random assists. It happens when an enemy dies and she is scoped in with her ulti. She just needs to be scoped in, doesn't matter where she's looking or if she's near the fight.

exactly what happened to me:

Time: about 8:45

Amber hand Haze and Infernus killed the enemy Ivy but I, Vindicta, was given the assist even though I was on the other side of the map ulting a dynamo.

Bumping this thread because I was seeing similar behavior with seven on the latest patch. You can see I (Seven) have the most assists, many of them were from teamfights where I was across the map.
