Game stuck on ‘Game in Progress’ after repeated disconnects; unable to queue or clear match

During a match, I experienced multiple disconnections (around 3–4 times). Each time I was able to reconnect and continue playing.

After the match ended and I returned to the lobby, the “Game in Progress” indicator remained on the top-left of the screen. Attempting to Rejoin only brought me to the post-match results screen.

When I tried Play Again, the game loaded slowly and then returned an error. I also attempted Abandon Match, which warned that I would receive a penalty. Even after confirming Abandon, nothing happened and the “Game in Progress” status remained.

I eventually quit the game. On Steam, I saw a message that Steam Cloud could not connect to Deadlock, though it synced again after about 5–10 minutes.

Result:
The client appears stuck in a match state and prevents normal matchmaking.

Expected Behavior:
After the match ends, the lobby state should reset normally and allow the player to queue for a new game.

Steps to Reproduce (approximate):
  1. Join a match.
  2. Experience multiple disconnects during the match.
  3. Rejoin the match each time until the match finishes.
  4. Return to the lobby.
  5. Lobby still shows “Game in Progress.”
  6. Rejoin shows post-match screen; Play Again or Abandon does not resolve the state.

Additional Notes:
  • Happened after ~3–4 disconnects in the same match
  • Steam briefly showed Cloud sync failure after quitting the game
  • Sync recovered after ~5–10 minutes
