Fixed: Insane Performance Issues

I experienced particularly severe performance issues last week, even though I have a very strong setup. Despite this, I was dealing with stuttering, FPS drops, and similar problems as described in my previous forum post.

was able to resolve the issue by taking three specific steps, which I would recommend only after trying the usual performance troubleshooting methods without success:
  • If you are playing with an NVIDIA GPU, uninstall the latest Windows Defender update. This is not the specific Deadlock issue itself, but it can already increase FPS by around 20 to 30 percent.
  • Clear your GPU shader cache, including both the DXCache and the GLCache. If you are unsure how to do this, consult a tutorial video to ensure the process is carried out correctly. (RESTART YOUR PC AFTER DISABLE THE NVIDIA SHADER-CACHE). When you gonna activate the setting again make sure to give the Shader-Cache more space (Now I use 100GB instead of driver standard)
  • In the graphics settings, switch from NVIDIA DLSS to FSR3 (TAA) and use Vulkan Rendering. The recent NVIDIA driver update 4.5 appears to cause performance issues in Deadlock, and changing the upscaling method can help stabilize performance.

Apparently, enabling the mod system is also reported to significantly increase FPS. However, this was not the cause of my issue, and I cannot personally confirm that it has any measurable impact on performance.

I hope i can help someone with that :)

I used the Steam performance display, and before I completed those steps, my VRAM usage was at 11 GB out of 16 GB in the lobby and around 14 GB in game. After I completed the steps, it dropped back down to approximately 4 GB.
