First time Abandoning Match game gave me ~10-minute penalty

Was queuing with a group when my other groupmates were kicked out of matchmaking and I was left in queue connecting to the match while still being in a group with them. And they couldn't reconnect to the match due to being filled by other players (I believe.) So, I abandoned the match and it was my first time doing so outside of when I was allowed to and still received a penalty (10 minutes). Unsure if this a true bug or connectivity issue or something but I figured I should report anyway.
