Discord Mic Issue.

This has been driving me NUTS!!! Worst part is im the only one out of sooo many friends that is having this issue. Discord is un-usable for me when im trying to play this game. Funny enough I have done some extensive troubleshooting to try and fix this issue to no avail however my steps are below.

  1. Isolating all Deadlock Audio to an alternative Audio adapter as to not intefere with the one working with discord.
  2. Updating Every audio and display driver.
  3. Updating my headset's firmware.
  4. Reinstalling Deadlock and Discord multiple times.
None of these worked for me, also in my testing I was able to see that it's the game environment itself. If you stay in a menu inlcuding the escape menu. The mic never disconnects. its only when interacting with the game Environment that will just stop discord from accessing your Mic. It just goes from "Currently in use" to "Last accessed on" As soon as you start playing.

Update* I have seen some posts complaining about this on reddit as well. Really would like to be able to chat with my friends.

What version of windows are you on? Are you by chance playing on a laptop? Do you have any sort of external audio cards or interfaces? What headset are you using? Can you test with another headset/microphone, such as corded earbuds?

Windows 11 Pro (Build 22631), I am not playing on a laptop but do have a laptop system to see if the issue would persist on another machine, No external Audio cards or interfaces, The headset is this, I have tried with multiple headset and microphones the issue persists. It is like the game hates Discord audio. Once again I would like to reiterate the menu works fine I can be in Menu forever without a single mic disconnect from Discord. AS SOON as i get into the game it disconnects my mic from discord and I would have to reconnect and then getting back into the game disconnects me again.

Are you running fullscreen, windowed fullscreen, or windowed?

Id love to help later, if you don't get this resolved

I have tried all three and including a custom resolution, Also tried running the game through Vulkan issue still persists. Hey man I have sunk too many hours in this. If you wanna try to take a crack at it by all means.

I also get this issue and try most things that I can think of to troubleshoot. I found out that this affects not only Discord but also Line and probably many other applications that will try to use your mic.

Everything was working perfectly fine until you actually connected to a game. Right at that moment it seemed like the signal from the headset was hijacked or blocked in some way, that every other application could not receive the signal, and if you alt-tab or refocused outside of the game in windows mode it will be fine again. This is super frustrating.

A friend of mine is running into this issue as well, going to copy/paste his previous post for visibility. He never found a totally consistent solution in the long run as some patches will cause audio issues to arise again. It almost sounds, on my end, like his voice gets a lot of static introduced, cuts in and out slightly, or gets sped up and slowed down at times as though the audio is lagging.

"Deadlock is making my audio do weird things but only when connected on Discord. I get this issue where my voice will start to sound distorted in Discord the moment I load into a map. Another odd issue will prevent the mic from being detected at all unless I'm on the testing page for Discord. The strange thing here is that the issue will persist on multiple computers even when I close out of Deadlock, use multiple computers, and even multiple headsets. Reformatting the audio drivers on the headset seems to work but it's definitely inconvenient."
