Deadlock crashing steamOS on Steam Deck

After the drifter update, my steamOS crashed after trying to join a friends party. I had played deadlock on the steamdeck a bunch already, and had never run into this issue. After steamOS restarted, I booted up the game again, it got to the small deadlock logo on screen, and just sat there frozen until steamOS restarted itself. This is now its behavior every time I try to boot up the game. I was able to get it to open again after reinstalling the game and manually changing the proton version to Proton Hotfix, but after trying to host a party, as soon as one of my friends joined, steamOS crashed again, and is repeating the same behavior as before where it crashes before the logo can even start spinning.

Yes, I know Deadlock isn't technically meant for the Steam Deck yet, but I was wondering if anyone else was having the same issue/if a fix for it would be hopefully issued sometime soon.
