When dash-sliding there is a small popup animation at the end so you can't chain together many dashes right after the other, however this does not apply to slides that are initiated from other means, examples being, air dashes, speed from sliding down slopes, and speed gained from dropping off of the lines (pretty much anything where you initiate a slide from the air).
A quirk I found in this is that you can also get rid of this "pop-up" animation in a dash-slide, by going down and then up (or vice versa) on even the slightest bit of terrain, this for some reason fills the criteria for getting rid of the pop-up animation. This is pretty abusable by characters like viper, or any hero with a lot of slide distance bought, because it let's you chain multiple dashes in a row instantly without having to wait for the animation in-between.
This mechanic is in general quite confusing, knowing when you can buffer a jump out of a slide is HUGE for keeping momentum or initiating another slide instantly with no delay, so it seems strange to have this mechanic be so weird.
Here is an example using the geometry in the pit for truly infinite ammo
ALSO side note: when you dash-slide, buffering shooting has like a 250ms delay, but if you manually click it's instant, feels unnatural to use especially on viper
