Connecting another monitor offsets the cursor

Upon connecting another monitor, the mouse cursor becomes permanently offset from its actual position.
The resolution on another monitor is different (higher), which is probably the reason behind this issue.

Another example (note the black area around the image to match the resolution of the newly-connected monitor):

This is accompanied by the aforementioned cursor offset.
