Can't start the game.

I can no longer start the game.

After an updating with the recent patch ~10 minutes ago, I can no longer start the game without it crashing.

After the game starts up, it loads the Valve logo, then tries to play the opening video to transition to the menu, but it never gets passed a few seconds.

I verified the integrity of the game files, nothing was corrupted or needed to be downloaded.

I'll try a few more things and will post again if I can get it working.

This is very interesting.

After looking through Event Viewer live as the game started up to see if there were any faults, errors, services messages, etc., the game loaded the menu; the only thing different was it was now preloading maps and shader cache, I had never seen this before, I'm guessing this was part of the update, but if it wasnt, I dont know what in the world "fixed" this issue.

I'll start playing a bit of bots, if all seems fine after ~30 minutes, I'll proceed into a live game.

Will post another update if it seems to be running fine or not.

Update:

It was running fine for a few games after this incident

Today:

The game crashes while in the menu, this time after I got the message "[Pre?]loading Maps and Shader Cache 3/3"

Reopen the game, seems to be running fine after the message "Preloading Maps and Shader Cache {x}/2000(?)"
