It's been mentioned a few times here, but I thought I'd add to it.
Respawning while holding a direction causes the hero to jitter and refuse to move in the specified direction. It doesn't stop there: crouching causes the player to stay in the crouching state, even when they should be sliding. Jumping doesn't look bad, until you try to climb an edge, when the hero starts jittering and refuses to climb over it. The jittering ends when the held button is released, pressing the button again has no issues.

I think this might be due to the game looping the first frame of the character's animations due to the button being held down, but I'm no programmer, so I don't know if animation events are involved or not.
