Bebop can't secure souls as well ever since July 11th update

I don't know if it's just me but ever since the last patch, securing/stealing souls as Bebop feels like the opponent has a full second to secure or steal your souls even though you have your beam (M1) on it. I've seen some people on the discord talking about this undocumented change/bug? and thought I might write in a bug report since playing him feels awful now.
