While dead and spectating another player, if you have any auto-buy items queued up and you have the funds to buy them, they will not be acquired until you respawn and assume a camera on your hero. However, if the person you are spectating should pass by a Store while you are spectating, the auto-buy will execute. I have observed this happening twice as a player I was watching returned to the spawn area.
