Auto ban from crashes

Hello,

Sometimes I get a PC crash or client crash while playing deadlock. When this occurs, I generally have to wait 3-5 minutes for steam to allow me to verify the integrity of files before I can return. Sometimes I must restart my PC after a client crash for this to work properly. I attempt to do it immediately but the progress bar is locked at 0% until 3-5 minutes have passed, I imagine this has to do with the server not recognizing I have left?

After this time, I return to the game and finish, in this most recent example and the previous one - I returned to a winning game after a brief absence and our team still won. No harm done. However, I have received increasingly long bans for these crashes despite returning to the game in almost every case (in one instance the match was over by the time I was able to return).

I would appreciate if some attention were given to the auto ban system in order to prevent these types of bans from legitimate game crashes. A 24 hr autoban as a result of game crashes from which I always return is absurd. It seems like this is a widespread issue as well. The crashes are all from corrupt files which seems extremely common.

Sadly, I don't think there is a way to check for "legit" game crashes since forcing a program to crash is very easy and can be used to allow people to leave without consequence. But yeah, hopefully, the game crashes people have will have to get some attention given the next few patches.

The ban was lifted earlier somehow (somebody reading this?), and then it just happened again after I got home and I got a 30 hr ban. It seems to always be the first game in a session, and it has been happening much more frequently following patches. It just sucks.

To clarify the crash, I get an error referencing corrupted files and the game crashes, then while trying to get back in, steam gets stuck at 0% while trying to verify files. I can restart steam, my PC, etc and this problem persists for 5 minutes or so. After 5 minutes, I can verify files and load back into a game with the abandoned tag, I finish out the game (last 3 times I crashed we won ffs!). It feels like steam specifically won't let me back into the game until the "abandon game" state has been met, I can almost never relog back into a game without the abandon message after this crash.

The crash itself would be a minor annoyance if it didn't trigger this cascade of increasingly long bans. Because it does, it is becoming annoying to try to play this game. I have a 30 hr ban at the moment due to these crashes and it gets longer every single time. If this isn't remedied soon I will be forced to quit because I'll be banned more often than I can play.

You're not alone... here's my thread https://forums.playdeadlock.com/threads/game-crashes-leading-to-6-hour-bans.52379/

But if you look around there are a number of others. From what I can see in logs, it restricts you from being able to validate the game for a set time, but I cannot understand why. The result is what you mention though - increasingly long bans.

Check your memory using memtest86, check your disk drive, and before any match and especially after every update validate your install files. It's not a silver bullet but these things might help.

What we need is a way to prevent the crash, but outside of that it would be nice to not be penalized so much for unintentionally crashing and doing everything we can to rejoin and contribute. Even if it just changing the abandon time to 7 minutes or something so we can actually validate and get back in.
