I definitely did the sequence of update game -> no screen appears on 6.12 --> boot into the same installation with 6.11 and it worked, but I've just tried again and getting the same issue with 6.11 as well - sorry for the bad info. I haven't tried clearing any caches yet or anything.

I have the same problem, using an AMD 5700XT on Debian Trixie. I don't play much so I'm not sure when it started. I have a few kernels packages installed, and tried booting from older ones: linux-image-6.12.27-amd64 - doesn't work linux-image-6.12.17-amd64 - doesn't work...
