tl;dr I noticed that, despite being Ascendant, I have ranked up several times from matches that were placed in Oracle.
I was put in high Oracle games because I was queueing with an Obscurus friend, and I guess the matchmaker found that to be the middle ground. There's a huge rank disparity here...
