This has been a thing for me since I switched to vulkan by the end of the year after this shader prewarm issue cropped up in november. It is consistently bad after each update but noticeably worse after the current patch, where first load into hideout took around 10 minutes, and stutters...
This is easiest intentional trigger seems to be looking straight down but this can happen at any angle - see the end of the calico clip for a pretty close replication of the angle I saw in game.
Calico's Leaping Slash (2), despite being light melee damage, currently procs the extra damage from Heavy Melee Charge on (potentially) every attack where the HMC item proc is not on cooldown. Note that this does not trigger the HMC item cooldown.
This will happen an infinite amount of times...
I recommend trying vulkan again. After the early December patch, I find I have much smoother performance overall on vulkan, and the shaders work without any issues.
for anyone who would like a short term fix to at least see the clock/souls, add the following to your deadlock launch options:
-no_prewarm_map
I have not noticed any performance difference with this on dx11.
Also, for those who get stuck or annoyed at the hugely long shader processing times...
Hit this as well on a linux client, so broken (or no) preloading and crashed immediately on clicking rejoin.
On second rejoin, I was able to get back into the game, but the game was hugely bugged out more than rejoining normally is. While I did eventually get a minimap again, I could not see...
