It looks like the first damage you saw as "explosion" is from Bebop's "Exploding Uppercut" skill. It not only throws enemies, it also make it so they do an area damage around to where they land.
Yes I have this problem too. I believe it started to happen with the 3-26-2026 update. It gets better if you turn off the "cancel with ability key" option for bebop under keybinds. But I still feel like there are some instances I am still unable to just spam bomb key and echo shard to put double...
