I dont think you really sacrifice anything with support items. The sacrifice, if anything, would be the 3000 + souls you would need to buy the item. Also the heal could be on a cooldown like restorative shot

They never said specifically it was intended or not. They were probably fine with it at first but saw it was too strong. Briefcase still goes through walls so they are changing things as they see fit
