I think this is more an issue that the game allows you to turn on quick cast while still using a control scheme like double tap or hold press for the alt cast modes. They might have to have quick cast listen for the key release while the controls are set to those modes.
As for a workaround...
Testable using the spirit veil in the hero sandbox, bring one friend or move the bot by punching him over and over until he is in the right position. The spirit veil needs to be blocking your vision of your target.
Compare this to Lash's 1 which is allowed to deal damage through spirit veils...
It's not really hard to program it to remember which person it chose on its most recent activation and ping that person, the exploit you're trying to bring up wouldn't last a day if it even made it past QA. Could also make it ping the wealthiest person instead of nearest, etc.
