Another player on the team disconnected early, so I:
opened the dialogue to abandon match from the esc menu
waited for the remaining 5 seconds on the abandon with penalty timer to elapse
button changed to say safe to abandon
attempting to re-queue met with 6 hour temporary ban from matchmaking...
