Most likely, the system is coded not to delete abilities once they’re added. A big example of this is Talon being unable to fly again after lifting off, and Vindicta flying and then constantly leaving herself stuck in a certain state (flying).

Even though the design and concept are nice, the ability kit feels very inconsistent—both within itself and in terms of the game overall.
