[Hero Concept Unfinished] Quasimodo, the hunchback of notre dame inspired character

  1. The character is ugly looking, but has a friendly smile, similarly may be inspired by the face of The Elephant Man (1980) .
  2. His design is that of carrying a small bell on his back, and he hunches his back and walks like a gorilla.
  3. His weapon is unorthodox to his design, it could be a tommy gun or a Lewis Gun, which would be fitting to his style.

  4. One of his abilities involve him swinging on an ethereal rope that is attached to either a bell or to the wall of a building.
  5. One of his abilities is Tiny's toss from dota 2, he can toss enemy creeps and ally creeps. But the ability to toss heroes is locked behind T2 (ally heroes) and T3 (enemy heroes) upgrade for balance sake.
  6. One of his abilities is to summon an ethereal bell out of thin air, if youve played POE2, think Tempest Bell POE 2 monks skill. The more you punch the more resonating waves it creates that dyamage enemies, you can toss the bell to enemies. At t3 , you can summon multiple bells and it lasts longer, almost permanently. It cannot be destroyed by enemies, enemies can shoot it , it will pierce through and hit you, but it will resonate the bell as well which is bad for them.
  7. His ultimate is still to be created, what im thinking is maybe the ability to summon a ringing bell that affects an entire area, maybe granting buffs to ally. Im still thinking of something unique. But i like the idea of playing a swinging hunchback that tosses bell or enemies.

This is a pretty cool concept, and when you said "punch" the bell it made me see that this character kit design has a ton of potential for a really interesting melee/spirit hybrid! I'd imagine that his first ability, so as to not surpass The Lash, wouldn't be a tremendous game breaking grapple, but still a very useful escape ability, and while one usage of it probably wouldn't let him go as far as three full charges of Lash's grapple, it would still provide great movement. As for it's utility as a melee ability, I had a very interesting idea, what if in the event of the hunchback swinging INTO someone, he dealt melee damage, and grabbed them for the rest of the duration of his swing, carrying them with him. His toss then could deal melee damage when picking up an enemy, but then when he throws either an enemy or ally, there could be a very small radius so that if it's a direct hit on another target it does much more melee damage. As for the bell, it could resonate with attacks from melees or bullets, and spread them out in it's waves as spirit damage, each wave dealing the same amount of damage as the melee or bullet that hit it, but falling off slightly as the wave gets further, that way it could be dodge able, but incredibly useful for a character that does tons of melee damage, and it would work with his high fire rate gun, so he has the option to do huge burst waves with his melee, or tons of tiny waves with his gun, meaning he can do mystic reverb, or escalating exposure even.

I think this turned out really well. Thoughts?

Conceptually hoist is better than what i suggested, but the bell being long cooldown kinda puts me off, im thinking naturally the bell should be off smaller cooldown and be a basic skill so it can be used in laning phase.

Also you know how crystal maiden in dota 2 has Crystal nova as a basic skill, but her ultimate freezing field is just a thousand crystal nova being casted while she channels the spell.

I was thinking of something similar. So maybe the bell should be a basic spell, and his ultimate would be summoning multiple bells that falls periodically around him, the bell falls at a random location around him.

yes making the character have melee potential is great, the swinging grabbing someone could also be cool counter for flying heroes, but naturally the ability should be able to make playing the character feel like your swinging as a hunchback of notre dame.

Skyrunner (one of the early experimental test hereos in deadlock) had an ability that allowed him to swing from one point to another, i was thinking maybe that skill should be repurposed into one of his kit. Also idk if the skill should remain just a mobility skill, kinda how lashs grapple doesnt do damage directly, but rather boosts his stamina and air dash and only gives him weapon stats instead of directly doing damage to enemies.

I know nothing of Crystal maiden, having not played Dota 2, but I understand what you're saying.
The reason I made it an ult, and why I think it has to be an ult, is that the ability by nature does 2 things:
1. Hits a large AOE
2. Takes the full focus of the player in heavy meleeing it.

Additional, as a bonus thing, doesn't move.

This is comparable to seven ult, and the other team is motivated to stop him from punching the bell and jump him, which the passive that gives him his rank quality helps with.

Now I can conceive of a version of a bell punching ability that could be a normal ability, but it looks quite different.

It would look like creating a bell a ways away from you (like 15 meters) so that the enemy has time to reach trk you rushing to the bell to punch it and try to avoid the shokwave. The bell then is destroyed in once punch with a strong shockwave.

Then again you could re-ultify that by making the bell respawn 15m away every time you punch it.

So yea I think the bell punching has to be an ult, unless you want to go with this higher proc difficulty single wave version.
