When I first saw the general stylistic direction of the world, the first thing that came to mind was a more cartoony dishonored. It got me thinking that I would love to see some kind of steampunk sailor trope. To add with the more light tone that some characters have, it would be funny if it were a sloppy / drunken Sailor.
Ideas:
After playing with a few different builds. I like the idea of a character that is severely underpowered in the beginning, who can ramp up exponentially. The main weapon of this character embodies that concept.
There are two main build paths that players can choose, immediately going for weapon upgrades and leaving his skills behind. Or focusing solely on his skills knowing that his weapon will be severely underpowered in the meantime.
My thought for the character is because of his low damage, the skills rely on creating space and throwing the enemies around, making it difficult for enemies to close space. When combining his skill two with his ultimate, he can take space quickly and then allow his team to move in too.
Main Weapon:
A single shot flintlock pistol. In the beginning, has super long reload time and low damage. Both damage and reload time should have slightly higher than average multipliers when it comes to spirit. But this weapon would be improved exponentially with his Skill Three.
Skill one: Plunder-buss
Fires the "Plunder-buss" on his hip. A blunderbuss that's filled with gold. Big damage, big knock-back.
1. knockback increase
2. Life steal for amount of damage dealt
3. damage and radius increase
Skill two: Weigh Anchor
Throws an anchor from his back, with a chain attached to the player. Where the anchor lands, the shockwave of the anchor knocks back enemies and deals damage. Activate again to pull the player to the anchor, if enemies are in AOE of anchor, they get knocked back when the player lands.
1. Increase knockback
2. Decrease cooldown
3. Lifesteal
Skill three: More Barrels
Adds a barrel to his flintlock pistol, 2 shots before reloading. (Same reload speed, but both barrels reload simultaneously)
1. Adds a barrel to his flintlock pistol, 3 shots before reloading. (Same reload speed, but all 3 barrels reload simultaneously)
2. Adds a barrel to his flintlock pistol, 4 shots before reloading. Increase reload speed. (All barrels reload simultaneously)
3. Adds a barrel to his flintlock pistol, 5 shots before reloading. (All barrels reload simultaneously)
Ultimate: Grog
Throw a barrel of grog that increases your teams reload speed and movement speed while in radius.
1. Increase reload speed even further
2. Enemies in grog receive a debuff (could be disorientation effect)
3. Decrease cooldown.
