Does the region in the game currently affect anything?

Does the region in the game currently affect anything? Can I switch the region to Europe? My ping in the game is 172!

I feel like there should be a way to change region for those of use that were on 1 region but now its opened up to others should be on another
I was on NA and now I have open servers closer to OCE it'd be nice to be able to do swap to the correct server without needing to find console commands

You should be able to choose between US East, US West, Canada, and South America like you can in DOTA. Getting high ping matches in a MOBA-Shooter is cancerous to the gameplay.

will undoubtedly be more regions available in the future/on release. Limited options currently to consolidate players playtesting onto a few locations with set playtimes, I imagine.

How do I change servers?
The test is currently on NA Central (Chicago), EU (Stockholm), Asia (Hong Kong), South America (Santiago) and Oceania. In order to change your preferred server you can open the console with the F7 key by default and enter:
citadel_region_override -1 (automatic)
citadel_region_override 0 (NA-C)
citadel_region_override 1 (EU)
citadel_region_override 2 (Asia)
citadel_region_override 3 (SA)
citadel_region_override 5 (OCE)
