Corrupt Files Leading to Crash

About once every couple of days I get the following error:

Content file C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Deadlock\game\citadel\pak01.vpk is corrupt. Verify integrity of game files.

There is no pattern for when this will trigger but it crashes the game. Most times when I go to verify integrity I will click start but it will never begin. This eventually means I'm marked as a leaver and banned from queue for 24 hours.

Has anyone else had this and if yes, does anyone have a fix?

Unfortunately no, but there is some more info in this thread

If anyone is using AMD graphics cards, I have moved to the "professional" driver instead of the regular one, which is traditionally more stable. Since this I haven't had a crash.

This happened again today, but has happened a couple of times over the past month (though less frequent). The past couple of times have been in the main menu. So at least it's not happening in games as often so that's a win. Here are my steps in response that seem to be working:

-crash occurs
-go into the following dir (X:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Deadlock\game\citadel) and delete pak01_000 through pak01_005
-exit steam, open steam, login
-go to Library, click "Play", this will realize that files are missing, re-download them, game loads

This workflow has proven to circumvent the lag/hangs/delays that the Validate Files approach caused in the past and can be down in a couple of minutes.
