Greetings! I am a Chinese player who has been following Deadlock since the open test last year and have been keeping up with all its updates. Every time I see news about the game or a new patch, I get incredibly excited. So far, I’ve spent over 1,500 hours playing, and overall, I believe Deadlock is an outstanding game. However, I’d like to share some of my frustrations regarding certain aspects of the current gaming experience.

First, I must confess that I use two Steam accounts. One is for playing the game as intended, while the other is for experimenting with unconventional gear and build combinations in a more relaxed manner. But why do I need a second account?

Here’s the situation: First, my skills are quite average, and I often struggle to lead my team to consistent victories. Additionally, the player base in Asia is relatively small, and the matchmaking system frequently places me in disadvantaged teams. For instance, my teammates are often at a similar skill level as me—not particularly strong—while the opposing team is significantly more skilled. As a result, I frequently experience losing streaks. What’s worse, these matches are often one-sided stomps, where my entire team gets completely overwhelmed without any chance to fight back. I believe many other Deadlock players share this experience. Such situations are incredibly disheartening and make it hard to enjoy the game. (I have nothing against losing in general—I can accept defeat—but I cannot tolerate matches where there’s zero enjoyment due to being completely dominated from start to finish.) This is why I started using a second account to play in a more relaxed manner, hoping to experience different kinds of matches.

Let me clarify—my second account is not significantly lower in rank than my main account, and I’m not dominating matches with it either. This brings me to my second point.

I sincerely hope the development team will consider introducing a roguelike mode. I am fascinated by the various gear and skill combinations in Deadlock, but the current gameplay doesn’t allow for much experimentation. I believe this aspect of the game has enormous potential. As a fan of Risk of Rain 2, I often tell my friends that Deadlock’s heroes and equipment would fit perfectly into a game like Risk of Rain 2—it would be an incredible experience.

I enjoy exploring different builds in Deadlock, even if they aren’t viable in standard matches. To satisfy this curiosity, I often test them in bot matches. However, the current bot mode is quite limited. Just think about it—with so many gear options and skills in Deadlock, doesn’t it make you want to experiment and see how different builds perform in action? That’s why I genuinely hope the Deadlock team will consider developing a roguelike mode.

This is also one of the reasons I use a second account—to test out some of the builds I’ve theorycrafted, even if they’re only barely viable.

Earlier today, I experienced yet another series of one-sided losses, which left me deeply frustrated and disappointed. I hope the development team can consider catering to different types of players and help Deadlock realize its full potential. I firmly believe that, with time, this game will become even more polished and amazing. Wishing you all the best
